Yarn Bombing the Streets of LA

Yarn Bombing the Streets of LA August 31st, 2012 by Zontee Pin It This summer, artist Ellen Schinderman curated an exhibit in Los Angeles called “Home Is Where the Needle Marks”, showcasing fiber art and exploring the home sphere. Working with Lion Brand yarns, Ellen and her cohorts yarn-bombed several areas of LA as part of the Downtown LA Artwalk to draw attention to the fiber arts. Recently, she shared these photos with us: Knitting the “yarn bombs” http://blog.lionbrand.com/wp-content/plugins/slideshow-gallery/vendors/timthumb.php?src=http://blog.lionbrand.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/181007_10150950756769539_1911857286_n.jpg&w=500&h=500&q=100&a=t Lots of knitting & crocheting http://blog.lionbrand.com/wp-content/plugins/slideshow-gallery/vendors/timthumb.php?src=http://blog.lionbrand.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/DSCF0019.jpg&w=500&h=500&q=100&a=t Wrapping the lamp-posts and street signs http://blog.lionbrand.com/wp-content/plugins/slideshow-gallery/vendors/timthumb.php?src=http://blog.lionbrand.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/image-9.jpg&w=500&h=500&q=100&a=t Last minute crocheting on the street http://blog.lionbrand.com/wp-content/plugins/slideshow-gallery/vendors/timthumb.php?src=http://blog.lionbrand.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/image-10.jpg&w=500&h=500&q=100&a=t Signs get yarn-bombed too http://blog.lionbrand.com/wp-content/plugins/slideshow-gallery/vendors/timthumb.php?src=http://blog.lionbrand.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/image-6.jpg&w=500&h=500&q=100&a=t A wrapped lamp-post http://blog.lionbrand.com/wp-content/plugins/slideshow-gallery/vendors/timthumb.php?src=http://blog.lionbrand.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/image-12.jpg&w=500&h=500&q=100&a=t A wrapped street sign http://blog.lionbrand.com/wp-content/plugins/slideshow-gallery/vendors/timthumb.php?src=http://blog.lionbrand.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/image-11.jpg&w=500&h=500&q=100&a=t Yarn bombing the gallery http://blog.lionbrand.com/wp-content/plugins/slideshow-gallery/vendors/timthumb.php?src=http://blog.lionbrand.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/IMG_1047.jpg&w=500&h=500&q=100&a=t Almost finished with the window bars! http://blog.lionbrand.com/wp-content/plugins/slideshow-gallery/vendors/timthumb.php?src=http://blog.lionbrand.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/IMG_1054.jpg&w=500&h=500&q=100&a=t A concert in front of the finished window http://blog.lionbrand.com/wp-content/plugins/slideshow-gallery/vendors/timthumb.php?src=http://blog.lionbrand.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/IMG_1090.jpg&w=500&h=500&q=100&a=t ‘); tid(‘spinners46w’).style.visibility = ‘visible’; var slideshow = new TINY.slideshow(“slideshow”); jQuery(document).ready(function() window.onload = function() slideshow.auto = true; slideshow.speed = 10; slideshow.imgSpeed = 10; slideshow.navOpacity = 25; slideshow.navHover = 70; slideshow.letterbox = “#000000″; slideshow.linkclass = “linkhover”; slideshow.info = “informations46w”; slideshow.infoSpeed = 10; slideshow.thumbs = “sliders46w”; slideshow.thumbOpacity = 70; slideshow.left = “slidelefts46w”; slideshow.right = “sliderights46w”; slideshow.scrollSpeed = 5; slideshow.spacing = 5; slideshow.active = “#FFFFFF”; slideshow.imagesthickbox = “false”; jQuery(“#spinners46w”).remove(); slideshow.init(“slideshow”,”images46w”,”imgprevs46w”,”imgnexts46w”,”imglinks46w”); tid(‘slideshow-wrapper-s46w’).style.visibility = ‘visible’; }); Keep your mouse over the slideshow to read the captions.
